NEWS - Prestigious project for Oxford's oldest college

Apr' 15

We recently completed a large project for Oxford University’s oldest college - University College Oxford.  The college was originally founded over 750 years ago in 1249 by William of Durham.  As part of a modernisation of the student accommodation, some of their buildings have been refurbished and various extensions added to accommodate more students - these have been completed using Sips Eco Panels.  The main project was for an entire new fourth floor to be built on an existing three storey building, which is also being completely renovated at the same time, plus a brand new three storey accommodation block, also to be built using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs).  The complete SIP kit was designed, engineered, supplied and installed by Sips Eco Panels.

Due to the age of the college and its location in the centre of Oxford, access to site was tight, with each of the components having to be carried through narrow alleyways and underneath the low arches to the build location ready for installation, then lifted to the 4th floor.  The project was a fascinating if challenging one to work on and work on site was successfully completed ahead of schedule in March 2015.
