14 luxury clifftop holiday lodges with spectacular views overlooking Laugharne beach, in Carmarthenshire, South Wales. The project was built to a tight timescale for Seasons Holidays, a busy and active leisure park who needed to upgrade guest accommodation.

Due to the fast build time and energy efficiency of SIPs, holiday and leisure parks are increasingly taking advantage of this method to construct superior build, quality guest accommodation faster, leading to more bookings and overall reduced running costs.
Upgrading existing park facilities can be a challenge in itself, as often, shutting down a park and losing revenue is out of the question.
SIPs are ideal for meeting this need. Their versatility means holiday lodges can be built on concrete slabs (to the same standards as a residential house), or on a chassis as single-story twin lodges to comply with BS3632 (2015).
Below, we’ve highlighted an example of how SIPs Eco Panels were able to build 14 luxury holiday lodges for Seasons Holidays, in their resort in Carmarthenshire, South Wales.
Seasons Holidays approached us as they were looking to upgrade their entire Laugharne holiday park, to include a state-of-the-art spa (contracted to another company using a traditional build method) and high spec luxury clifftop waterfront lodges.
The lodges would have to be upgraded from old, single story traditional timber frame buildings to high quality, two-storey luxury showpiece lodges complete with increased capacity, great facilities and outside space to enhance the stunning views overlooking the water.
The client had never used SIPs before, but wanted to build very high quality, energy-efficient buildings on site. The holiday park would be running throughout the build, with families and children on site, so it was vital the build was completed quickly and with minimal disruption.
Because Seasons needed the units guest-ready and inhabited ASAP, the timeline was especially tight, however the biggest challenge was that the project had to be completed on an incredibly difficult site; a hilled cliff face.
Any delay to completing the build would have meant a loss of revenue to our client, so staying on track with a tight timescale was absolutely critical to the success of this project. The client was also worried about the upheaval of having lots of tradesmen on site.
The SIPs Eco Panels team were able to come up with a comprehensive turnkey solution for Seasons Holidays, which included the design, manufacture and construction of the new luxury lodges, as well as all of the internal fittings.
We used our 144mm wall SIP panels, along with 194mm panels for the roof, with a 254mm joist deck and internal CLS studwork of 95mm x 45mm. We also installed 12mm fireboard cladding, a glulam ridge beam, and purlins and steel flitch plates above large feature triangular windows.
We used millboard for the balconies and external decking areas, and provided full first and second fit, plumbing, electrics, kitchens, bathrooms, windows, dry lining, internal decorating and external cladding, so the lodges were ready for guests to enjoy.
We began the build after work had already begun on the traditional build state-of-the-art spa, however due to the speed and efficiency of SIPs construction, we were able to complete the project in much faster timescale.
Because SIP panels are manufactured off site and only require 3 – 4 people to erect a typical house, they require less trades on site and reduce on-site waste by up to 90%, so upheaval and disruption at the park was kept to a minimum.
The overall result was that we were able to complete the build quickly, ahead of the new spa opening, whilst providing absolutely everything Seasons Holidays needed to have the lodges open and ready to receive guests as soon as possible.
We surpassed Seasons Holidays’ expectations with this build, and they absolutely love how well built the new luxury lodges are, as well as the reduced running costs made possible by our fully-insulated, energy-efficient SIPs system.
